Overview

Fly to the heart of the race.

Departing Tuesday, March 10, you’ll embark on a morning flight to the tiny, yet historic village of Nikolai an Alaska outpost with a population of 125. As one of the first checkpoints after the rugged Alaska Range, this is a strategic location where many mushers choose to take their mandatory 24-hour rest. Witness the endurance of these elite teams as they arrive and prepare for the next leg of the race. Spend the day immersed in the Alaskan wilderness, observing the intricate workings of Alaska’s state sport. Watch as mushers tend to their dogs, strategize, and bond with the local community. Return to Anchorage, carrying with you the incredible experiences and lasting memories of the Iditarod.
